Ernest Ogg
Ernest Samuel 'Sammy' Ogg (1906-1969) was an Australian Rugby League player of the 1920s and '30s. He played in the NSWRFL Premiership for Sydney's University club, whom he also captained. Sammy Ogg was born in Camperdown, New South Wales in 1906. While obtaining his medical degree at Sydney University, he joined the University Rugby League team in 1925 and played a total of nine seasons with them between 1925 and 1933. He played second row in the 1926 Grand Final loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He later went on to captain the team during his later years as a player. He played 113 first grade games, scoring 25 tries and kicking 22 goals during his career.〔Alan Whiticker, The Encycopedia of Rugby League Players. 1995 (ISBN 1875169571)〕 Sammy Ogg became a doctor in Sydney and later the chief Coroner of New South Wales.
